DC Analog locomotives
These are locomotives that will run on regular Direct Current (DC) supplied by a regular DC transformer that is supplied inside most new train sets. They are not meant to be used with DCC command stations, and doing so may destroy the engine.
Most people start with DC locomotives, with the idea that they may graduate up to a DCC system later. However, a lot of model railroads stay with DC (also called analog) locomotives due to its lower cost and simpler setup.
