Road Name

The Road Name is the name of the railroad, which often refers to the specific area in which it operates. For example, Norfolk Southern operates in the mid-atlantic area, and south and west of that area. The Union Pacific operates from the west coast inward to the central part of America. The name may also relate to how the railroad was formed as a result of a merger. Most of these railroads are privately owned. Amtrak is the exception which is owned by the US government mostly for passenger service.
