Model Railroad Layout Details

Every model railroad layout needs details to enhance realism – things like signals, mailboxes, trash cans, figures, rocks, tufts of grass or wildflowers, etc. The quality and scenic reality of your layout will increase exponentially.

Take a walk around an area or a scene similar to the one that you are modeling. Take pictures. Study the photos back at your train room. Notice the details and try to emulate those on your layout. You may be able to create some of those things from household items. If not, there are probably products you can purchase that would help you create thos details that you want to include. Another option is to use a 3D printer to create some of those details. Your visitors will be amazed.
